La grande messe du cinéma aura lieu le 10 février prochain du côté du Dolby Theatre de Los Angeles. Alors que les Golden Globes ont donné la tendance de la saison des remises de prix, la liste des nommés aux Oscars 2020 vient d’être révélée il y a quelques instants. Sans surprise, c’est l’excellent Joker qui domine les nominations, en étant en compétition dans 11 catégories différentes, dont celle du meilleur film et du meilleur acteur. De leurs côtés, Once Upon a Time In Hollywood et 1917 cumulent 10 nominations chacun. Les films Netflix The Irishman et Marriage Story ne sont pas en reste, également nommés dans de nombreuses catégories.
Excellente nouvelle pour le cinéma français, le magnifique film de Ladj Ly Les Misérables a été nommé dans la catégorie du meilleur film étranger. Enfin, on retiendra également que le sublime Parasite concourra dans la catégorie du meilleur film et du meilleur film étranger. Une belle récompense pour l’une des plus grosses claques ciné de 2019, qui sera par ailleurs bientôt adaptée en mini-série par HBO. Sur le plan des distinctions individuelles, difficile de ne pas être impressionné par le casting 5 étoiles nommés dans la catégorie du meilleur second rôle masculin : Tom Hanks (A Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood), Anthony Hopkins (The Two Popes), Al Pacino (The Irishman), Joe Pesci (The Irishman) et Brad Pitt (Once Upon a Time in Hollywood).
